Vintage Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyám – Illustrated Collins Edition with Kuwait Provenance

A beautifully illustrated vintage Collins hardcover of The Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyám, rendered into English verse by Edward FitzGerald and featuring twelve full-page colour illustrations by Robert Stewart Sherriffs. This appears to be a 1960s Collins reprint, containing the texts of FitzGerald’s first, second and fifth editions.

This copy has particularly appealing Kuwait provenance. It retains the original bilingual label of The Family Bookshop, Kuwait, together with a handwritten presentation inscription dated October 1970, Kuwait. Sourced from a dealer in the United Kingdom, the book has now made its way back home to Kuwait. The original illustrated dust jacket shows rubbing, edge wear, tears, chips and small losses, particularly around the spine and corners. There is also age-related wear and creasing to the endpapers.
