Vintage Persian Khatam Kari Domed Jewelry Box

A beautiful vintage Persian khatam kari jewelry box, handmade with exceptionally fine geometric micro-mosaic inlay arranged across a traditional domed chest form. Khatam kari is a centuries-old Persian decorative technique in which tiny sections of wood, metal and pale inlay are assembled into complex repeating star patterns. The interior is fully lined in rich red velvet, with a small metal clasp to the front. Likely mid-to-late 20th century.

Measures 20 × 15 × 12 cm. Very good vintage presentation overall, with small areas of wear and minor imperfections to the delicate inlay consistent with age and handmade construction. The original finish has been retained.
