Vintage Indian Elephant Appliqué Kantha Quilt – Rajasthan

Large handmade Indian textile featuring rows of colorful appliqué elephants individually cut from patterned fabrics and stitched onto a pale blue-grey cotton ground. Traditional running-stitch quilting covers the surface, with small handmade floral appliqués placed between the elephants and a wide repeating elephant border completing the design. This style of appliqué and kantha embroidery is particularly associated with Rajasthan and Jodhpur.

Measures approximately 200 × 205 cm. Vintage condition with gentle fading, irregular stitching and other small signs of age and hand construction. A beautiful piece for use as a bedcover, large wall hanging or decorative textile.
