Vintage Handwoven Soumak-Style Rug with Animal Motifs

Vintage handwoven rug featuring a wonderfully detailed ivory field filled with small animal and geometric motifs, framed by six large hooked medallions in shades of red, rust and ochre. The wide border carries additional stylized motifs, giving the rug a particularly lively, folk-art quality. The flatwoven construction and strongly outlined geometric design are characteristic of Caucasian and Persian Soumak-style weaving, though I would avoid assigning a specific region without provenance.

Measures 104 × 150 cm. In good vintage condition with age-related wear and some irregularity to the edges and fringe consistent with a handmade textile.
