Vintage Framed Japanese Print After Kitagawa Utamaro – Five Beauties of the Present Day

Vintage decorative Japanese print reproducing Kitagawa Utamaro’s Tōsei Gonin Musume (Five Beauties of the Present Day), an Edo-period composition depicting five fashionable women gathered together. The original design is by celebrated ukiyo-e artist Kitagawa Utamaro (c. 1753–1806) and belongs to his well-known bijin-ga tradition of portraying beautiful women. 

This example is not an original woodblock print, but a later reproduction from a series of Japanese woodblock reprints. It is presented in a vintage faux-wood frame dated 2003, with gold-tone inner trim. A very attractive decorative piece that retains the look and color palette of the original Japanese print.
