Wonderful early 20th-century color postcard titled “Le Caire – Village et pyramides pendant l’inondation” (“Cairo – Village and Pyramids During the Inundation”). The scene shows the Pyramids of Giza beyond a flooded landscape, with camels and riders reflected in the water — a striking glimpse of the agricultural landscape that once surrounded Giza before modern development.
The reverse is postally used, retaining its original Egyptian postage stamp, cancellation, handwritten message and address to England. Published in Cairo by Max H. Rudmann. Displays light age-related wear and toning consistent with an antique postcard, while the colors remain particularly attractive.
