Vintage Chinese Folk Embroidery Bird Panel – Custom Framed

A vibrant vintage Chinese textile featuring a hand-embroidered bird surrounded by flowering branches and bold geometric forms. The embroidery is worked in jewel-toned pink, blue, green and red threads, then layered with several contrasting woven and brocade borders. The combination of the detailed folk embroidery and clean black frame gives it a wonderfully collected, contemporary appearance.

The panel was likely removed from a garment or domestic textile and later assembled for display. Based on the stitching, vivid colour palette and aged fabrics, I would conservatively date it to the early-to-mid 20th century, approximately 1930s–1960s. It does not appear to be an official rank badge, but rather a decorative folk textile, possibly originating in southern China.

Condition: Good vintage condition with visible age-related wear, including minor fading, fraying and loose threads within the textile. These irregularities are part of the character of the original handmade piece and are protected beneath glass
