Vintage Chinese Blue & White Double Happiness Ginger Jar – Mid-20th Century

Vintage Chinese porcelain ginger jar decorated in cobalt blue with the traditional Double Happiness (囍 / shuangxi)symbol surrounded by dense scrolling floral vines and blossoms. The motif is traditionally associated with marriage, harmony and good fortune. The unmarked base and decorative treatment are consistent with Chinese export examples from the mid-20th century, likely circa 1950s–1970s; closely comparable examples are dated to this period by both specialist dealers and auction houses.

Measures approximately 30 cm high × 22 cm wide. The original lid is no longer present, but the jar itself presents beautifully and works especially well in its current form as a substantial vase or decorative vessel. Light signs of age and use are present.
