Vintage 1971 Persian Folk and Fairy Tales – Illustrated Hardcover with Tehran Inscription

A charming vintage collection of traditional Persian stories, retold by Anne Sinclair Mehdevi and illustrated by Paul E. Kennedy. Published by Chatto & Windus in 1971, this 117-page edition contains eleven Persian tales accompanied by detailed black-and-white illustrations. It is a later printing of the work first published in 1965.

The book retains its original illustrated dust jacket and has a handwritten gift inscription reading “To Philip, From Mark — Tehran, 6 March 1971.” The inscription gives the copy appealing period provenance, although it is not signed by the author. The jacket shows fading, rubbing, small tears and losses around the spine ends and corners, while the hardcover and pages remain in good readable vintage condition. Sold as photographed.
