Vintage 1940s Indian Rosewood & Bone Inlay Mechanical Cigarette Dispenser – Hookah & Elephant Scenes

A wonderful vintage Indian mechanical cigarette dispenser, crafted from richly grained dark hardwood, likely rosewood, and decorated with finely engraved pale inlay. One face depicts a gentleman reclining in a chair while smoking a hookah, while the reverse features a pair of elephants; additional foliate inlay decorates the end panels. The opaque cream-colored material and fine engraved detailing are consistent with bone inlay.

The unusual architectural form conceals a mechanical cigarette-dispensing arrangement within the upper compartment, making this both a decorative piece and an appealing example of vintage tobacciana.
