An important English-language history of Kuwait by historian Ahmad Mustafa Abu-Hakima, covering the country’s development from the eighteenth century through 1965. The book examines the rise of Kuwait, the Al Sabah period, regional politics and trade, and Kuwait’s changing relationship with neighboring powers and Britain. Illustrated throughout with historic photographs, maps and documentary material. The work was originally published in the early 1980s; bibliographic records identify the London Luzac edition as 1983, while the paperback is also recorded as appearing in 1982.

Vintage paperback in good overall condition. The pages and illustrations present well, with some expected surface wear and wrinkling/creasing along the spine from age and use. A particularly good reference for collectors of Kuwait history and anyone interested in the development of modern Kuwait.
