This substantial historical study traces Kuwait’s development from the rise of the Al-Sabah in the 18th century through the political, commercial and social changes that shaped the country up to 1965. Abu-Hakima drew on archival records, Arabic manuscripts, contemporary sources and personal interviews, making this an important scholarly work on the formation and development of modern Kuwait.
