The Arab of the Desert by H. R. P. Dickson – 1951 Second Edition

A scarce 1951 second edition of H. R. P. Dickson’s important study of Bedouin life, tribal history and traditional culture in Kuwait and the Arabian Peninsula. Published by George Allen & Unwin, the book is illustrated with period photographs, maps and ethnographic material. The rear pocket contains all of the genealogical trees. Of the maps, only two are included: Failaka Island and Rough Tribal Map of Arabia. 

The original cloth binding shows considerable age-related wear, fading, staining, rubbing and fraying at the spine ends and corners. The pages and maps have toning, spotting, creases and other signs of use. Sold strictly as is and as photographed.
