Signed 1971 First Edition Forty Years in Kuwait by Violet Dickson – Author’s Presentation Copy

A highly collectible first-edition presentation copy of Violet Dickson’s Forty Years in Kuwait, published by George Allen & Unwin in 1971. The title page is personally inscribed: “With the author’s compliments, Violet Dickson, Kuwait 17.5.71.” Illustrated with period photographs, maps and drawings, the book records Dickson’s experiences in Kuwait and the wider Gulf during a period of profound social and economic change.

This copy retains its distinctive original photographic dust jacket and bears the original bilingual label of The Family Bookshop, Kuwait inside the cover. Remarkably, it was recently sourced in the United Kingdom and has now made its way back home to Kuwait. The jacket shows age-related edge wear, rubbing, small chips and losses, particularly around the spine ends and corners, together with a pale mark on the rear; the hardcover and interior remain well preserved overall.
