Pair of Vintage Italian Postmodern Silhouette Valet Stands – c. 1980s

A striking matched pair of vintage Italian valet stands dating to approximately the 1980s. Formed from continuous white lacquered tubular metal, each stand creates an abstract human silhouette with a looped head and sculptural curved body. Their playful, graphic form is characteristic of experimental Italian postmodern design and allows them to function equally well as clothes stands or freestanding decorative sculptures. Similar documented examples are described as Italian “Silhouette” coat racks from the period.

Each measures approximately 45 × 168 cm. Both remain in good vintage condition with scattered light scratches, small marks and minor paint wear consistent with age and use. Particularly unusual to find as a matching pair.
