Pair of Vintage Indian Engraved Brass Shell Ashtrays

An unusual matching pair of vintage Indian brass ashtrays formed as sculptural scallop shells. Each piece is richly engraved with dense floral and foliate patterns, with integrated cigarette rests shaped into the curled edges.

The darkened recesses contrast beautifully with the polished brass surface, highlighting the intricate decoration and giving the pair a warm, timeworn character. Decorative enough to display beyond their original purpose, they could also be used as small catchall dishes.

Likely Indian, dating to approximately the 1960s–1980s.
