Pair of Antique 1935 King George V & Queen Mary Silver Jubilee Plates

A matching pair of English commemorative plates produced at the Leighton Pottery in Burslem for the 1935 Silver Jubilee of King George V and Queen Mary. Each plate features photographic portraits of the royal couple surrounded by heraldic animals, colourful flags, roses, a ship and an early aeroplane, with the arms of several Commonwealth countries positioned below. The reverse bears the Leighton Pottery mark and pattern number 5560.

Dating precisely to 1935, the pair is approximately 91 years old. Both display fine age-related glaze crazing and gentle rubbing to the metallic rims, adding an attractive antique character. No obvious chips or significant cracks are visible in the photographs.
