Description
A rare and monumental Italian mid-century sideboard by Vittorio Dassi for Consorzio Esposizioni Mobili Cantù, dating to around the 1950s–1960s. This is a true statement piece, nearly three metres in length, with richly figured bookmatched veneer, sculptural carved drawer fronts, brass hardware, black textured detailing, and a glass display surface.
What makes this example especially impressive is the original full-width mirror back, complete with integrated lights. The mirror transforms the cabinet from a standard sideboard into a complete architectural wall piece, ideal for a dining room, formal living room, entry hall, boutique interior, or collector’s home.
The piece retains a label inside noting that it was originally a floor model, suggesting it was likely used as a showroom display piece. It has the presence and craftsmanship associated with high-end Italian furniture of the period: bold, refined, glamorous, and beautifully made without feeling mass-produced.
A striking example of postwar Italian design, combining luxury materials, decorative detail, and practical storage on a grand scale.
