Love Rises Above to Meet Us Here on Earth - Alymamah Rashed x The Carpet Guy, 2026

This collaboration is a response rather than an intervention.

For this work, Alymamah Rashed responds to the geometric and symmetrical patterns embedded within a 1960s Arabian Sadu, sourced through The Carpet Guy. Rather than treating these motifs as decorative ornaments, she approaches them as living structures capable of holding memory, spirit, and transformation.

Emerging from the Sadu's existing visual language, a constellation of figures begins a journey from the underworld, ascending through the sea and ultimately into the sky and the heavens. This spiritual cycle of life unfolds through Rashed's recurring spirit forms, which inhabit and activate the geometric fields of the Sadu. The patterns become energetic vessels that guide circulation, growth, and renewal, acting as pathways through which the figures move and transform.

Rooted in Rashed's ongoing exploration of personal mythology, spirituality, and the body of the spirit, the work reimagines the Sadu as a living landscape where matter and spirit continuously exchange forms. The geometric structures become sites of convergence between the earthly and the celestial, allowing the figures to navigate cycles of becoming, dissolution, and return.
