Japanese Eisen Woodblock Print – Beauty in a Yellow Kimono

A beautiful Japanese woodblock print by Eisen, identified by the Japanese dealer as “Figures of the Floating World, Beauty in a Yellow Kimono.” The composition depicts an elegantly dressed woman leaning over a long black chest, her layered yellow, turquoise and softly patterned kimono creating a graceful vertical composition. The print has substantial age-related toning, fading and surface character that give it a particularly atmospheric appearance. The exact printing date of this impression is unknown and has not been confirmed.

Presented in a vintage/antique khatam kari custom frame, intricately decorated with traditional geometric marquetry that works beautifully with the muted palette of the print. As with handmade and vintage khatam kari, small imperfections around the edges are normal and form part of the character of the frame.
