An original early Egyptian picture postcard showing men climbing and working among date palms, captioned “Palmier.”Published in Cairo by Lichtenstern & Harari, Commissions-Agents, card no. 207. This is an especially early example: the Mazovian Digital Library holds this exact card, no. 207, and dates it to 1901–1904. The undivided “address only” reverse is also characteristic of postcards from this period.
A wonderful view of agricultural life in turn-of-the-century Egypt, with unusually strong detail and composition. Unused, with gentle toning, minor corner and edge wear consistent with its age.
Date: c. 1901–1904
