An attractive illustrated edition of George Nathaniel Curzon’s Curzon’s Persia, edited and introduced by Peter King and published by Sidgwick & Jackson. Drawn from Curzon’s landmark 1892 work Persia and the Persian Question, this edition concentrates on his travels through Persia rather than the more political sections of the original, following his journey from Ashkabad and Meshed through Tehran, Isfahan and Shiraz to Bushire. It is particularly appealing for its historic photographs taken by Curzon himself, period views of Qajar-era Persia, portraits and maps, including the large map reproduced inside. The volume runs to 192 pages and the paperback ISBN 9780283997426 / 0283997427 is generally catalogued as the 1988 Sidgwick & Jackson softcover edition, following the book’s initial 1986 publication. Age: approximately 38 years. Condition: very good vintage condition with clean pages and light shelf wear to the illustrated covers consistent with age.
