Rare contemporary Afghan war rug featuring a military aircraft superimposed over an American flag beneath the phrase: “Bringing Freedom And Democracy To An Oil Rich Country Near You”. The misspelling was something we actually searched for intentionally because it shows that these are in fact made by tribal weavers. 

Handwoven by Afghan weavers, this piece reflects the evolution of Afghan war rugs from traditional conflict imagery into politically charged contemporary folk art. The combination of military symbolism, satire, and bold graphic composition gives the rug an unusually modern visual language while preserving traditional handwoven craftsmanship.

The vivid turquoise field, stark patriotic imagery, and provocative slogan create a striking contrast between decorative textile tradition and geopolitical commentary.
