Antique Japanese Kunisada Woodblock Print – Hour of the Horse, c.1830s - On Hold

An antique Japanese woodblock print by Kunisada, titled by the Japanese dealer “Hour of the Horse” from the series “12:00 in Tatsumi.” The original design dates to the Tenpō era (1830–1844), although the exact printing date of this particular impression has not been confirmed. The composition features an elegantly dressed woman in layered robes with a smaller narrative scene above, retaining beautiful muted colors and visible age-related character throughout.

Presented in a striking vintage/antique khatam kari custom frame, whose intricate geometric decoration complements the colors and detail of the Japanese print beautifully. The print shows age-related toning, creasing and wear consistent with an older work on paper. As with handmade and vintage khatam kari, small imperfections around the edges of the frame are normal and form part of its handmade character.
