A striking antique Japanese Imari porcelain plate, likely dating to the late Meiji period, circa 1880–1900, with a scalloped rim and richly hand-painted decoration in iron red, cobalt blue and soft green. The design is divided into bold decorative panels filled with flowering branches, stylized foliage, baskets and traditional auspicious motifs, while the reverse is decorated with freely painted underglaze-blue symbols. At 22 cm diameter, it is an excellent display size and a particularly decorative example of late-19th-century Japanese export porcelain. Comparable 22 cm scalloped Imari plates are currently offered by specialist antique dealers at considerably higher international prices, including an example listed at £185. Condition: good antique condition with expected surface and glaze wear, small firing imperfections and a small shallow rim chip/flake, shown clearly in the photographs. Display hanger is removable.
