Antique Japanese Imari Scalloped Plate – Hand-Painted Arita Porcelain, c. 1850–1900 – 22 cm

A beautiful antique Japanese Imari porcelain plate, likely dating to the late Edo to Meiji period, circa 1850–1900. Hand-painted in the classic Imari palette of iron red, cobalt blue, soft green and gilt tones, the 22 cm plate has a finely scalloped rim and an unusually elaborate arrangement of floral, foliate and auspicious decorative panels. The reverse is also decorated in underglaze blue, a particularly attractive detail associated with better-quality export and domestic Arita wares of the period. Presented in very good antique condition with expected minor age-related wear; the display hanger shown is removable. Diameter: 22 cm. Material: Japanese porcelain. Age: approximately 125–175 years.
