A wonderfully nostalgic 1995 second edition of Expats Guide to Kuwait, edited by Ahmed Jarallah and published in Kuwait by Al Muna Public Relations. Created as a practical introduction to the country for expatriate residents, the guide has become something rather different thirty years later: a fascinating time capsule of Kuwait in the mid-1990s. It contains more than 60 color photographs and illustrated articles covering shopping, traditional markets, museums, crafts, leisure, restaurants, hotels and everyday life.

Particularly interesting today are the contemporary advertisements and features documenting businesses and places that have since disappeared or dramatically changed—from Entertainment City and Al Khaleejia department store to period furniture shops, computer companies, cars and Kuwait's 1990s retail scene. Because guides like this were produced as working reference books rather than permanent historical publications, surviving copies offer an increasingly unusual glimpse into everyday Kuwait during this period. The second edition dates to 1995; an international bookseller currently records the same edition as 1995.
