Published by George Allen & Unwin in 1983, this Third Edition of H.R.P. Dickson’s The Arab of the Desert was revised and abridged by Robert Wilson and Zahra Freeth, Dickson’s daughter. This later edition presents a more accessible version of Dickson’s landmark account of Bedouin life in Kuwait and the Arabian Peninsula, covering tribal society, desert life, marriage and customs, camels and horses, pearling, traditional beliefs and the tribes of Kuwait and Najd. It retains numerous historic photographs and illustrations together with map endpapers.

This copy retains its original illustrated dust jacket, showing light age-related wear. It is a former British library copy and bears library and withdrawal stamps internally, as shown in the photographs. The pages and illustrations remain well preserved overall.
