An original English bone-china saucer produced by Salisbury to commemorate the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II on 2 June 1953. The design features a sepia portrait of the young Queen with Prince Charles and Princess Anne, photographed by noted royal photographer Marcus Adams, framed by flags, heraldic animals, the Royal Arms and the EIIR cypher. The Salisbury backstamp and photographer’s attribution remain clearly visible underneath.
Dating precisely to 1953, this piece is approximately 73 years old. It appears to be in very good vintage condition, with gentle age-related wear to the gilt rim and some old label residue underneath. No obvious chips or cracks are visible in the photographs. An attractive piece of British royal memorabilia, suitable for display or for completing a Salisbury coronation tea set.
