Original early 20th-century photographic postcard depicting an Egyptian mother carrying a child, with another child beside her. Printed in Cairo and captioned “EGYPT. – A Mother.”

The postcard was actually mailed in 1917, with its original King George V halfpenny stamp, December 17 postmark, and handwritten correspondence addressed to Saltburn-by-the-Sea, Yorkshire. An interesting small piece of First World War-era social history—the message even mentions bringing “sugar cards,” referring to wartime food rationing in Britain.

Shows expected age-related toning, edge wear and a creased upper corner, all consistent with a postcard more than a century old.
